Puez-Geisler Nature Park

This park gets its name from the Puez and Geisler groups. It stretches across 11,000 hectares of the mountains at an average altitude of 2,500 m. Come and explore the idyllic home of the eagle, chamois and marmot on your holiday to the Dolomites. You can find out all there is to know about the history and nature of the park on the Zannes Nature Trail. Stroll through spruce and larch forests or marvel at the mountain meadows as the crocuses, spring pasque flowers and common pasque flowers burst with colour. The spotted gentian and edelweiss can also be seen taking root at loftier heights.

Naturpark Fanes-Sennes-Prags

Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park

Roam the park that the European pine marten, the red fox and the wood grouse call home. A trip to the nature park’s vast spruce forests is an absolute must for guests staying at a hotel in the Dolomites. Covering more than 25,000 hectares between the Prags Valley, Toblach and Alta Badia, this is one of South Tyrol’s largest protected nature reserves. It is dotted with idyllic mountain meadows and, higher up in the mountains, the safe havens of the mountain hare and rock ptarmigan. The romantic Braies Lake is popular among tourists because it is perfect for a boat trip or a stroll. The Lärchensteig nature trail and the circular walk around Toblacher See are routes that provide information on the mountains and their inhabitants.

The Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

UNESCO had many good reasons to name the Dolomites a World Heritage Site in 2009. With its white limestone, the region in the Southern Alps on the border between South Tyrol, Trento and Belluno really is a sight to behold. Once commonly known as the “Pale Mountains”, the geologist Déodat de Dolomieu lent his name to the mountains at the end of the 18th century. 250 million years ago, the Dolomites were coral and algae reefs at the bottom of a primordial ocean. Today they are known as the place where mystical sagas unfolded and age-old local traditions originate.

Hotel reviews

  • Personal touch
I had the most amazing stay. The owner went out of her way to provide service above and beyond. Made breakfast at 4:30 am so I could make the start of my cycle Gran Fondo. The room was beautiful and cleaned daily and the meals were sumptuous. Staff were exceptional. I recommend this hotel.

  • “Jewel of a Hotel”
We have stayed at this family-run hotel twice while skiing over New Year's week, and both times were absolutely wonderful. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and they are able to offer family-sized, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suites that work well for us, especially with all of our skiing paraphernalia. The Prousch family and their employees work very hard to make sure their customers feel like guests. In the course of a week, you get to know other guests, many of whom return year after year, for good reason. The new bar area reminds me of staying at a lodge or retreat, with families playing games, doing puzzles and chatting in the evening hours between skiing and dinner. My daughter loved the kids' area and made new friends (German and Italian are the languages in the kids' "club"). Breakfast and dinner are consistently excellent, with new culinary experiences each trip. The view of the Dolomites from the hotel is absolutely incredible...

  • Convenient,Clean,Friendly,Value
Stayed here in January 2012 for avalanche training in mountains and skiing for fun. Convenient to ski areas and Dolomiten hiking trails. Hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean. Food is excellent, but most importantly the Prausch family makes you feel at home and have excellent hospitality. Very nice people. The area is peaceful and special. Daily shuttles to the ski areas are complimentary. I will visit them again and highly recommend this hotel for family vacation or a ski vacation.
